The Patterson Awards

The Oscars often presented controvery and debate. I will attempt

to present my own awards, keeping in mind that I have not seen

all the films that might be considered eligible for such awards.

I will give honour to best film, director, actor, actress, and

supporting actress and actor. An asterick with the award indicates

that I have agreed with the academy. Until my research is

intensified I will begin with 1932/33, although the awards began in 1927.

My selections may not correspond to my top 150 selection list, as I am rewarding for excellence, creativity, invention, performces and

cinematography without allowing for any preference based on my

own emotional or intuitive response. I have given a little respect and

consideration for comedies, as they tend to get less consideration at

Oscar time, and are often to more difficult to direct, and comedic characterizations are a challenge to portray convincingly.

I have hi-lited what I rate as the best performances in gold, if this pick was also an Academy Award winner, I will add an asterik. Academy award winners that I have not hilited in gold will be indicated with a white asterik.

From 1929 to 1935 there were no supporting awards, but I awarded those categories for interest.
